It is GCSE results day and after a long summer of waiting, teenagers across the regions will be collecting their results. It’s a huge occasion for many young people who took their exams earlier this year, with Thursday, August 22 marking the date they will rip open envelopes – metaphorically and literally – to discover how they did. As well as GCSEs, students will be finding out the results in their vocational and technical qualifications (VTQs). What they manage to achieve can make a huge difference in a young person’s life. Whether it helps them get the results they need to go to the college of their choice, or to progress into other sorts of training, it can feel life-changing for many.
